Cross Country Wireless VHF/UHF Masthead Amplifier
The VHF/UHF Masthead Amplifier is a low noise RF amplifier designed to be mounted directly at the antenna so that signal amplification is made before losses are incurred in the coaxial feeder cable. This give an improved signal to noise performance especially with long cable runs.
The amplifier consists of two units, a weatherproofed outdoor head unit for connection to a suitable antenna and a bias tee unit to provide DC power up the coaxial cable to the outdoor unit.
The outdoor unit is housed in a polycarbonate box with a N type female connector for the antenna and a BNC socket.
Like our other active antenna products it has RF overload protection to allow it to be used very close to transmit antennas without damaging the amplifier or the attached receiver.
The amplifier can also be powered using recent versions of our Multicoupler with the built in switched 5 V bias tee feed.
Early versions up to 2025 were powered by 13.8 V up the feeder cable.
All amplifiers produced in 2026 are now powered by 4 to 5 V up the feeder cable.
This brings the amplifier in line with out other active antennas that can be powered by our Multicoupler or the bias tee in SDRPlay receivers.
